The Winners and Loses from Last Night's craziness.
Winner: John McCain Winning California makes him a winner. Not only did he win California, but he won nearly every district. I did not see this coming and nor did the experts. He held all the states he had to, and now it is all but official that he will be the nominee. Still, not all was good for him, if he won those Southern states instead of Huckabee, I think we would be talking about Romney and Huckabee dropping out. Winner: Mike Huckabee I am a Huck-a-nut, and I was hoping for 3 states. He won 5 states, and carried a region that Republicans must win. Mitt Romney tried his hardest to make this a 2 man race, and it did not happen. The media went right along with it, often not reporting Huckabee national numbers when they were only 1 or 2 points behind Romney. Huckabee has his base held well, and McCain may now be forced to pick Huckabee as Vice President. Loser: Mitt Romney He put a lot into California, and he got whacked. He was far behind McCain and Huckabee in the south. Te day started off badly with a surprise loss in West Virginia. He and Huckabee now have about the same chance of winning the nomination, which is about 1% at best if one drops out and 0% otherwise. Still, props for the biggest margin all night, with a 85 point smacking in Mormon country, Utah. Winner: Barack Obama Super Tuesday was a split it terms of delegates, but the fact is that he has pulled even with Hillary as of right now. A big win for Obama in Conn. as I see it. The next month favors Obama, and it may be enough time to get the train moving so that he can roll all the way to the nomination. Loser: Hillary Clinton The fact that the press is calling this a tie is a loss for her. She somehow needs to not allow the Obama train to leave the station this before March 4th. I think this will be hard for her to do. Winner: Karl Rove Rove is a genius, and he gave great insight every time he spoke when I caught him on FOX. I mostly watch MSNBC though. Loser: FOX News Ticker Anyone paying attention to FOX seen how wrong their numbers were on the bottom of the screen. They but up mistake check marks early. Had the 1st vote instead of the 2nd vote displayed for a while in West Virgina, and often had vote percentages or totals wrong throughout the night. Winner: Ron Paul Did he cut a 3 delegate deal with Huckabee in West Virgina? If so that is a shrewd move. Loser: Bill Richardson I caught him on a MSNBC, any of you see his beard? It is a horrible look, why does the wife let him keep that. Winner: States that decided not to hold their primary on Feb. 5th Everyone moved up because they wanted to be important. Aint it ironic that at least on the democratic side, the states that held back, states like Ohio and Texas are going to probably decide this thing. |
